Alan's Wolfpack Speech (Communication Model)

In the movie "The Hangover" one of the characters named Alan gives a speech on the rooftops of their hotel in Vegas to Phil, Stu, and Doug. As they reached the top of the roofs, and made a toast, Alan began with his speech before they went out that night. As Alan was giving his speech, you could see the expressions on Doug's, Phil's and Stu's face as they all struggled to understand and give feedback to Alan. In this example, Alan is the sender and Doug, Phil, and Stu are the receivers. They were unable to decode the message that Alan was trying to send.

The link below shows the communication situation.

The most effective element in this communication situation is the decoding of Doug, Phil, and Stu. As they listened to Alan's speech, you could tell that they couldn't comprehend what Alan was saying. This relates to human communication in general because there has been numerous times that I, or another person, couldn't understand what the sender was trying to say. Normally when someone doesn't comprehend what the sender is trying to say, the typical thing to do is just nod your head.
