Anti-Smoking Programs
In Hawaii, some citizens were recently involved in a protest against a new bill that the senate was considering passing. The bill would redirect funds that are currently used to sponsor various tobacco use prevention programs. If this bill were to be passed, the state would lose the majority of its funding for tobacco education programs. In order to raise awareness for how crucial it is for the senate to reject this bill, several citizens staged a protest along a major road in Hawaii. The protesters made several signs and even designed t-shirts which displayed phrases such as "take action now." Their methods were very effective because their protest was very big and a creative way for them to stand up for what they believed. It would be difficult to modify their efforts in order to make them more effective since they did such a good job. However, one thing that I may have done differently would be to stage the protest at several different locations rather than just one.
