United Cerebral Palsy
An example of civic engagement is the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation. A girl from my home town has the disease and hosts events to raise awareness. The foundation often speaks to people about the consequences of having cerebral palsy and how we could find a cure if there was more money to research. There are often ordinary people who go up and speak at events to try and raise money and find a cure. The video above shows how people speak out for the foundation and how they use common speaking techniques just like we do in our class. They speak clearly, seem confident, use body language, and speak motivationally. Ethos, pathos, and logos are also used in the speaking in the video to help get their point across. The United Cerebral Palsy Foundation is a great example for civic engagement and public speaking.
