Play 60

An example of civic engagement is the NFL's Play 60 program that aims to get kids to exercise at least 60 minutes a day. The NFL uses the players, coaches, and owners in television commercials to get kids to go online and "pledge 60" which means they promise on the website to play for 60 minutes to accumulate points and be able to play the games the website has to offer. The NFL is effectively using its popularity to speak out to kids and try and solve our nations weight problems. This is a large use of ethos because the credibility of the NFL and the allure of its athletes is what gets kids to want to start working out so one day they could be one of the kids in the commercials playing with the NFL stars. This is an example of an ad from the Play 60 campaign.
