Over the last few years I have been exposed to many rhetoric situations but one that sticks out in my mind is a Pink and White Ball that I have attended for the last two years. This is a rhetoric situation because its purpose is to persuade the attendees that breast cancer is a growing issue, and research as well as knowledge is very important in finding a cure. It is the host’s (speaker) job to teach everyone about this issue and the attendee’s (listeners) job to either do something about it or even just spread the word. This dance as a whole is a civic engagement because the community is working as a whole to spread the message of breast cancer. This show of public advocacy is very important because the more people know the closer we are to finding a cure. All in all, this dance has a purpose and that is to communicate, and educate the audience about a growing issue in the community in which they live.
